BLURB: Putting a leash on a dominant sub is a task that may require two Doms to accomplish.

When relocation agent Eric Swann is assigned to ease young Connor Prescott into moving back to London, he expects the boy to be more enthusiastic—and less irritating.

Used to roaming freely among his mother’s D-list celebrity friends, Connor is anything but happy when his father decides to put him on a leash—a leash with a far too attractive handler on the other end. Secretly craving a man who knows how to yank his chain and show him exactly where the limits are, Connor does what he’s best at. He manipulates Eric into giving him what he wants, making the man reveal a side of him that Eric himself isn’t ready to accept.

Trained by one of the quirkiest Dom/sub-teams in the country, Dom Tyler Kane knows exactly how to handle a toppy sub. He keeps Connor on his toes, er, knees, in the bedroom, but when his capricious lover sets his heart on pushing yet another limit, Tyler finds himself not only with a dominant sub but also with a Dom who has yet to accept his true identity.

Reader Advisory: Due to sexually explicit content this book is intended for adult readers only. Contains scenes in which the main characters are sexually involved with secondary characters and vivid descriptions of unusual sexual practices.

While this book can be read as a standalone novel, it is best enjoyed as part of the series in order of release (Sub-Mission, Re-Submission, Sub-Culture, Sub-Dominant)

Excerpt

Connor smiled at him and nodded. The dreamy expression made his eyes gleam seductively and Eric forced himself to focus on the conversation.

“My experience with guys was good. Sure, it was awkward at first, but I’ve always felt good with a man.”

Eric raised his eyebrows. “Always? You’re eighteen, for crying out loud. How many men have you been with?”

Connor made a face and avoided Eric’s gaze. “A few. How many have you been with?”

“This isn’t about me.”

“Why not? Why don’t I get to ask questions?”

Eric sighed. “Okay, fine. I’m twenty-six, and I’ve probably been with...a few more men than you have.” He waggled his eyebrows when Connor looked at him.

The young man laughed. “You big chicken!”

“I’m not a big chicken, but I do have a big—” Eric bit his tongue. Shit. That wasn’t the kind of comment he should be making in his young charge’s presence.

Connor didn’t seem fazed. “I noticed. Are you a shower or a grower?”

“Um... A bit of both. It grows some more but—Seriously, Connor, this is TMI. We shouldn’t be talking about these things.”

“Why? What’s wrong with two guys comparing the size of their dicks?”

“We’re not comparing the size of our dicks!”

Connor smirked. “Aren’t we? I know where you’ll be looking when I get up to use the restroom.”

“Connor! For fuck’s sake, sit down!”

A sweet, sinful smile on his face, Connor stood up, making sure to linger with his groin at Eric’s eye level before he turned around with an unnecessary amount of butt-wiggling, then he stalked off. The boy was either at least half erect or blessed.

When he returned, Connor’s smile was still in place and even naughtier than before. Head held high and back straight, he turned the narrow aisle to their table into some sort of fashion runway. Stopping right in front of Eric, he tilted his hip to give him an eyeful of his bulging groin before he sat down.

“Can you guess?”

Eric gritted his teeth. “Guess what?”

“Whether I’m a shower or a grower.”

“I can’t guess. I haven’t even thought about it.”

“Liar.” Connor pouted, but amusement danced in his voice. “You’ve been thinking about it ever since I mentioned it, and you thought about it before. Did you imagine me naked?”

“Connor! Shut up now, will you? We’re not alone here.”

Connor tilted his head and looked up from underneath those ridiculous charcoal lashes. “Do you want to go back to my room? We’ll be all alone there.” Green sparks glittered in the dim light, teasing him, challenging him. Eric had known it was coming and had tried to be ready when it did, but Connor still took him by surprise with this alcohol-fuelled come-on.

“I don’t think that’s such a good idea.” Eric forced the words out, watching Connor’s full, slightly parted lips. He’d been thinking about kissing those lips more than once during the last weeks and even more often on that evening. The thought of feeling them on other parts of his anatomy had his blood racing to those parts.

“I know you want to,” Connor breathed and leaned across the table, stopping only inches from Eric’s face, almost close enough for a kiss.

“Connor, really, I—”

“I’ll let you put it anywhere you want.”

“I’m not putting anything anywhere except you to bed. Alone. We’re leaving. Now.” He signalled for the bill, secretly grateful for the delay as his body and mind needed a few minutes to calm down. Connor sat with his arms folded across his chest, pouting.

When Eric had paid, he got up and glared down at Connor. “We’re going back to the hotel now. No acting up, no discussion. If you pull any of your usual stroppy shit on me, I’m going to drag you along by the scruff of the neck. Got that?” He marched off towards the door without even checking if Connor was following him. Outside, he waited just long enough for Connor to catch up with him, then he led the way down the road.

“Fuck, Eric,” Connor panted. “Slow down a bit, will you? I was joking, okay? Don’t be mad at me.”

“I’m not mad at you but I am taking you back to your hotel now.”

“Don’t you wanna get a cab?”

Eric scoffed. “The hotel is just around the corner. The walk will do you good.”

Connor grumbled, but followed him without any more fuss. He kept quiet until they were inside the building and waiting for the elevator to arrive. “What are you afraid of, big boy?” he whispered suddenly.

Review of a Book I Loved - The World As He Sees It by A M Arthur

The premise of the book is simple. Tristan has memory problems. Due to a head injury he is unable to retain short term memories for more than half and hour to an hour at a time. Gabe, struggling to handle an abusive, alcoholic mother and a blooming porn career.

These two make an unlikely couple, but somehow they work. They're both endearing and well rounded characters I took to immediately. I particularly like how Gabe took Tristan's problems in his stride and treated him like a 'normal' person.

Gabe has a lot going on in his life, with his mother and his career, but he fits Tristan into it seamlessly, and Tristan feels safe and comfortable with him, to the point he actually begins to remember and recognize Gabe, which is a big thing for him.

Tristan has absolutely nothing going on in his life. He lives in an assisted living complex with mainly old people, surrounded by post it notes, and carrying a notebook, which is his bible to what's going on around him and basically constitutes the whole of his memory since the injury occurred. Soon his book is full of Gabe, as is his inbox.

The relationship unfolds slowly with objectively not much happening. Don't expect much action and excitement. On a personal level, however plenty of things are happening and it's by no means a slow book, or one that drags plot-wise. The book moves seamlessly from one small incident to the next, from a porn set to a market and to see Gabe and Tristan sample deep fried bacon was heartwarming.

Things change, and more tension arises, when Tristan starts a drug trial hoping to recover at least some of his ability to retain short term memory. Not only Tristan, but Gabe and Tristan's friends Noel and Shane struggle with the side effects, and the rapidly deepening relationship.

There were two things I didn't like about the book and both are highly subjective. First, there was too much sex. I know. I know. The book is about a porn star, for goodness sake, and the sex is absolutely natural and understandable, given Tristan's three year abstention during his illness, but I think it's unnecessary. The book has plenty going on, and gently unfolds the relationship with plenty of tenderness and closeness, without having to jump into bed and get sweaty every time they meet.

Don't get me wrong, the sex is well written and it's no wonder Tristan is constantly on heat like a randy teenager, because to all intents and purposes that's what he is. It's just that I was more interested in the story than the sex which, to me, distracted from the storyline and pulled me out of it.

Secondly, I don't like the cover. It's no secret that I generally don't like covers with pictures of the characters on them. I'm not saying the cover isn't attractive per se, but the pictures are nowhere near how I see the characters in my head, especially Tristan. Not really a criticism of the book or its cover at all, but worth a mention.

Apart from this there was nothing I didn't like about the book. I especially liked the secondary characters. Noel and Shane. Noel is Tristan's best friend from way back in the day. He looks after Tristan like a brother, almost like a mother, as Tristan's family rejected him for being gay, even before the injury occurred.

To sum up. The characters are engaging, the story is gentle but moves forward at a good pace, the writing is good, and there's a happy ending.

I would not hesitate to recommend this book to anyone who likes feel-good stories with just enough tension and a warm fuzzy feeling at the end.

About the author

R.J. Jones started as a reader and eventually made the progression to reviewing. It wasn’t until two men popped into her thoughts, insisting on telling her their story that she started to write.

It started with one scene. A hot and dirty one in the shower… R.J.’s initial thought was if she could write their scene then they’d shut up and allow her to concentrate on other aspects of her day. Not so. That shower scene ended up being 3000 words long and three hours of work. And still, they didn’t shut up. They told her their entire story and she didn’t sleep for days. Sometimes she couldn’t keep up with what they were telling her and she had to keep a notebook by her bed.

Whilst she was writing their story a side character decided he needed his story told too. Then other characters followed suit. You see the problem? If she ever wants to sleep again then she needs to write.

R.J. is a wife and a mother to two boys. She is surrounded by males. Even her dog is a boy.

Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing A M Arthur author of The World As He Sees It. Before we get to the best bit - the excerpt, I asked the author a question, just to see into her head a little bit, which I like to do - usually before torturing someone, but that's another story.

List the first five things you would do if you suddenly had millions of dollars.

1. Create a bank account and put money in it for taxes. As someone who’s mis-guessed her owed taxes, this something I would do. Be responsible. Not fun, but hey, it’ll save headaches in the long run.

2. Pay off all of my debt, my sister’s debt, and my parents debt.

3. Go on a 10-day cruise somewhere. Anywhere. Preferably tropical, but I’ve heard Alaskan cruises are gorgeous.

4. Buy a little house near a lake, somewhere in western North Carolina, deep in the mountains. Set up an office, wi-fi, and live there for the rest of time. With lots of cats.

5. Put whatever’s left into a savings account and hoard it away for the next time Republicans crash the economy….

Excerpt:

The late hour didn’t diminish the sweltering August heat, and Tristan worked up a good sweat walking. Shane and Noel both looked crazy sexy in their club clothes, and even sexier walking side by side. He was happy for Noel. Happy his best friend was in love and enjoying himself.

He was also stupidly, insanely jealous.

He stuck close with his stupid, insane jealousy because the streets were teeming with people of all ages, heading into and out of the different restaurants and clubs. They turned down a quieter side street that was more like an alley. Halfway down the block a few guys hung out against a stone wall, most of them smoking cigarettes. An industrial door with no sign or markings was being guarded by a big, burly bear of a man in a black leather vest.

“Hey, Officer Carlson,” the bouncer said. He had a deep voice to match his broad body. “Nice to see you again.”

“Hi, Mr. Henson,” Noel said.

“Bear, son. Everyone calls me Bear.”

“Right. This is my friend Tristan Lavelle.”

“A right pleasure.”

Tristan shook Bear’s hand, surprised by the gentle grip. “Hi.” He glanced at Shane, who didn’t seem at all annoyed at being left out. “Um, that’s Shane. Noel’s boyfriend.”

Bear grinned. “Yeah, I know that one all right.”

“You do?” He reached for a notebook he didn’t have, then looked at Noel for answers.

“Shane dances here once a week,” Noel said. “He got the job through Bear’s son Gabe.”

“Oh.” He didn’t bother asking if he’d already been told that. Probably. Every single piece of information that was mildly important to his life had been repeated to him at least, oh, eighteen times. Minimum.

“Enjoy yourselves, boys,” Bear said. “First drinks are on the house.”

“Thank you,” Tristan replied.

Noel pulled the door, and what had been a distant bass became an impressive thumpa-thumpa in Tristan’s chest. The interior of the club was wide and deep, with a high ceiling decorated in strands of red and blue lights. Strobes and other lighting flashed around the dance floor, which seemed to make up most of the floor space. A small U-shaped bar stood to the right. In the rear were what looked like raised platforms. Two hot guys in red short-shorts were gyrating together on one of them.

This is the kind of dancing Shane does? Shit.

He was probably twenty kinds of hot up there.

Someone jostled past them, reminding Tristan to keep moving forward. Noel was hustling them straight for the bar. Tristan couldn’t drink alcohol because of his antidepressants and anxiety medications, and Noel was driving so the only person able to drink much was Shane.

Lucky bastard.

Not that Tristan was going to mourn his dry night. Men. Everywhere around him, a sea of hot men. All kinds of eye candy. Every age, height, weight, shape and body hair amount. He observed and mentally drooled over the flesh on display. The air smelled of liquor and sweat and sex, and good

Lord he was starting to get lightheaded from it all.

Noel nudged them closer to the bar. A middle-aged man with gray hair and a pink sequined vest gave them all a big, toothy smile. “Noel and friends,” he said. “Richard Brightman, pleased to officially meet you, Tristan.”

“Hello,” Tristan said. Officially meet you implied they’d interacted before, but the man’s name meant nothing to him.

“I’m Bear’s husband. We own the place.”

“Oh. It’s a great place. I’m pretty sure this is my first time. I like it.”

Noel flinched.

Okay that was wrong. When was I here before?

“So what are we drinking tonight?” Richard asked. “First round on the house. Samuel Adams for you, Shane?”

“Yeah, thanks,” Shane replied.

Richard knows because Shane works here.

“I’ll have a vodka tonic,” Noel said. “Tris?”

“Virgin margarita,” Tristan said. He loved margaritas, and while a virgin wasn’t as good as one with Patrón, he couldn’t mix with his meds.

“Coming up,” Richard said.

The music changed to a faster, sharper beat. Tristan’s hips rolled in tiny motions, instinct bringing out his love of club dancing. Of getting into it with another dude, all writhing bodies and gyrating hips.
Arms and legs. Sweat and heavy breathing.

Wonderful arousal stirred in his gut, heating his blood already. He might not be getting laid tonight, but damn it, he was going to have some fun.

“Hey, you guys made it,” said a sexy, sultry voice.

Tristan glanced over his shoulder to see who the voice had spoken to, only to find himself staring into a pair of kind, dark eyes. Kind, dark eyes belonging to a stunningly handsome face. Black hair. Tan skin. Tall and well-built. A walking wet dream who was smiling like they were old friends.

Holy fucking hell, he’s gorgeous.

“Hey, Gabe,” Shane said.

Gabe.

Those kind, dark eyes never broke from his, and Tristan couldn’t look away. Gabe was a stranger, and yet somehow familiar.

His eyes. The eyes I see. We’ve met.

“We’ve met,” Tristan said before he could think twice.

Gabe’s eyebrows twitched. “Yes, we have. Do you remember that?”

“I remember your eyes.”

About the author:

A.M. Arthur was born and raised in the same kind of small town that she likes to write about, a stone's throw from both beach resorts and generational farmland.  She's been creating stories in her head since she was a child and scribbling them down nearly as long, in a losing battle to make the fictional voices stop.  She credits an early fascination with male friendships (bromance hadn't been coined yet back then) with her later discovery of and subsequent love affair with m/m romance stories.
